ADVENTURES IN CODING WITH SCRATCH

Hello parents, guardians and students! Welcome to our Design Engineers class page!

Our in-person classes begin on Saturday, January 13 at 10:30 AM. We are excited about all of the activities we have planned!

Bookmark this page and check back occasionally since we will post occasional updates from our classes!

Scratch

Scratch is an educational drag-and-drop coding language, that can be used to create interactive stories, games, and animations. With Scratch, kids will be introduced to coding and learn basic programming logic. During our Scratch activities, kids will be using the Scratch Code Editor. We highly recommend creating a free account as it will make saving their work easier at the end of each activity!

To view your project, download the file onto your computer. Open up scratch and create a new project, select file, and โ€œload from computer.โ€

WEEK 1

Today, our first class was a blast with the "Robot Make Me a Sandwich" game. Students took turns giving instructions to our coding instructor pretending to be a robot. It got real fun when everyone realized we had to be super specific with our commands for the robot to get things right!

Each student got a shot at giving instructions, making it a cool teamwork experience. Guess what? Learning was a treat, literally! ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿฅช

ASTEROID BLASTER

Pilot your rocket with the thrill of the up and down arrow keys to weave through asteroid chaos! Don't forget to unleash laser mayhem by hitting that space bar! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ’ฅ

Dino catcher

Guide your dino on a taco-catching adventure! Use the right and left arrow keys to snag as many tasty tacos as you can! ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿฆ–
