ADVENTURES IN CODING WITH SCRATCH
Hello parents, guardians and students! Welcome to our Young Learners & Discovery: Coding with Scratch class page!
Our in-person classes begin on Saturday, January 13 at 10:30 AM. We are excited about all of the activities we have planned!
Bookmark this page and check back occasionally since we will post occasional updates from our classes!
Scratch
Scratch is an educational drag-and-drop coding language, that can be used to create interactive stories, games, and animations. With Scratch, kids will be introduced to coding and learn basic programming logic. During our Scratch activities, kids will be using the Scratch Code Editor. We highly recommend creating a free account as it will make saving their work easier at the end of each activity!
To view your project, download the file onto your computer. Open up scratch and create a new project, select file, and “load from computer.”

Week 1
Today, our first class was a blast with the "Robot Make Me a Sandwich" game. Students took turns giving instructions to our coding instructor pretending to be a robot. It got real fun when everyone realized we had to be super specific with our commands for the robot to get things right!
Each student got a shot at giving instructions, making it a cool teamwork experience. Guess what? Our first-timers even got to take home a jam sandwich made by our coding-savvy robot. Learning was a treat, literally! 🤖🥪
cat art
Let the artistic adventure begin! Wag your mouse to paint with your vibrant cat! Up and down arrow keys tweak their size, while the right and left arrow keys switch up the effects! To start a fresh canvas and unleash new art vibes, hit that spacebar! 🎨🐾

They kicked off with a pre-made whack-a-mole game, putting their creative minds to the test by designing the preset objects. Staying true to the theme of elusive characters, they then dove into Scratch, where they crafted their very own hide-and-seek game! 🎮✨
