What is the First LEGO League Competition?
FLL is an exciting robotics challenge where teams:
🔹 Build & program a LEGO robot to complete missions
🔹 Develop an innovative project based on the annual theme: New Challenge Theme: Every year, FIRST LEGO League introduces a new challenge based on a real-world scientific theme. As part of the competition, teams must research this theme, identify a problem, develop an innovative solution, and present their findings to judges. This Innovation Project encourages creativity, problem-solving, and real-world application of STEM skills.
🔹 Present their research & solution to judges
🔹 Demonstrate teamwork & core values throughout the season
🏆 2026-2027 FLL Theme
📅 This year’s theme: In BIOGLOW™, releasing August 4, 2026, FIRST® LEGO® League teams will experience the vibrancy of the world's ecosystems, with two editions of the Challenge: Founders Edition and Future Edition. BIOGLOW is part of the FIRST® CANOPY™ season.
1.Project Solution: Teams identify a real-world problem based on the annual theme, research it thoroughly, and propose an innovative solution. Presentations should be clear, creative, and show how they engaged with the community.
2.The Robot Game: Teams design, build, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO materials. The robot must complete as many missions as possible on the game table within a 2.5-minute match.
3.Core Values & Teamwork: Teams demonstrate how they worked together, showed inclusion, and embodied FLL values like discovery, innovation, and gracious professionalism. Judges look for team spirit and collaboration.
